Manager Paul Bodin started midfielder Dylan Levitt in his first U21 midfielder and was forced to make a late change in goal, starting Adam Przybek after George Ratcliffe felt unwell during the warmup.

On the 24th minute Cymru broke the deadlock. A well delivered corner by Levitt found Nathan Broadhead unmarked at the far end of the box. The attacking midfielder made no mistake with the header, finding the bottom corner for his first U21s goal.

Cymru continued to pile on the pressure and were unlucky not to get a second. A glancing header from Robbie Burton narrowly flew over the crossbar while a superb driven cross by Rhys Norrington-Davies almost found Broadhead with an open goal had it not been for the outstretched hand of Victor Straistari.

The Moldovan equaliser came minutes before the end of the half. A well worked counter gave Moldova their first chance of the match as Alexandr Belousov made no mistake to make things even at half time.

With the second half barely underway, Moldova pounced for their second. Confusion in the box led to a penalty decision for the referee and Belousov made no mistake in finding the roof of the net for his and Moldova’s second of the match.

Cymru looked to reshape and were boosted after Moldova were reduced to ten men after Cristian Ursu was shown a second yellow card after 55 minutes. Paul Bodin’s side piled on the pressure and were unlucky not to get two penalties after both Brennan Johnson and Mark Harris were heavily challenged in the box.

In the closing minutes there were chances galore as substitute Jack Vale glanced the crossbar and Aaron Lewis saw a shot sail wide. Unfortunately, the equaliser never came and Cymru will now begin preparations to face Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday 19 November.
