Fawcett named JD Welsh Cup Player of Round 2
Haverfordwest County’s 18-year-old striker Ben Fawcett has been announced as the JD Welsh Cup Player of Round 2.
The youth team product scored twice as the Bluebirds overcame Swansea University in a 4-3 thriller last month. Linking up with former Swansea City and Llanelli Town striker Lee Trundle in a dangerous forward line, Fawcett scored twice in the first half for the hosts and looked dangerous with the ball at his feet, despite a heavy pitch.
Fawcett, who was born in Pembroke, played for County's academy from the age of 12 in a successful side that reached the FAW Academy Cup Finals on three occasions in 2013, 2015 and 2017. He has also played for his local club Hakin Utd at junior and senior level.
The Bluebirds host Pontypridd Town in tomorrow’s Round 3 match and will include new signing Kaid Mohamed to their ranks. Mohamed - who joins from Chippenham Town - wrote his name into JD Welsh Cup history in the 2007/08 season when he scored twice in the final to lead Carmarthen Town to victory over Afan Lido. He went on to play in the Football League for Swindon Town, AFC Wimbledon, Cheltenham Town and Port Vale.
