FAW files annual accounts

The Football Association of Wales filed its annual accounts on 28 March at Companies House for the year ended 30 June 2017.

Turnover for the year was £23.9m, which is an increase of £3m (14%) on the previous year. This was predominantly due to Wales’ participation in the EURO 2016 Quarter-Finals & Semi-Finals and hosting the 2017 Champions League Finals.

The company had a post-tax profit of £1.8m, which was double of that in 2016. The profit will be re-invested in line with the FAW’s strategy to utilise all the revenue generated to help fund all domestic and international football in Wales.

In the last financial year the FAW funded over 50 matches, tournaments and training camps across all of the international squads, 10 domestic cup competitions, as well as the running costs of both the Men’s and Women’s Welsh Premier Leagues.

The FAW also provides financial support for ground improvements and for referees’ training and development. To ensure support for the game at every level across the country there is also funding for nine Directly Affiliated Leagues and six Area Associations.
