eEURO debut for Cymru

Cymru will be part of the first ever UEFA eEURO 2020 after two players have been selected to take part in the tournament.

Edward Lewis, from Bridgend, and Ryan Cameron from the Rhondda have been drawn to face Italy, Ukraine, Andorra, the Faroe Islands and Montenegro on Konami’s video game, Pro Evolution Soccer 2020. Cymru will play each team twice, with matches taking place on Monday 16 March and Monday 30 March.

I was interested to see how my standard was against other players when I took part in the qualifying competition. It’s now up to me to try my best. Cymru am byth – let’s do Wales proud.

– Edward Lewis, Cymru eEURO player

The tournament style is similar to a UEFA EURO Championship and will include a qualification phase (played remotely), as well as a final taking place in London.

Cymru’s match against Montenegro on Monday 16 March will be live streamed on the UEFA YouTube channel at 20:00.

I got into PES 20 years ago when it was ISS Pro Evolution and have played ever since. It is an honour to represent my country even at an electronic level.

– Ryan Cameron, Cymru eEURO player
