Dumbarton weary of The New Saints

JD Welsh Premier League champions The New Saints, welcome Scottish Championship club Dumbarton to Park Hall on Saturday (17 February) in the Semi-Finals of the Irn Bru Cup.

TNS are hoping that home advantage will provide an extra edge as they are yet to play away in this season’s competition.

Victories against Livingston, Elgin City and Queen of the South has seen The New Saints progress to the semi-finals of this cross-border competition. Meanwhile, Dumbarton have defeated Connah’s Quay, Stranrear and Raith Rovers to reach this stage.

Dumbarton’s manager, Stevie Aitken, told his club’s official website: “Having already played a Welsh club in a previous round, we’ve got a bit of experience as to the style of our opponents, but with cup games, things tend to be different.

“TNS are Welsh Champions, operate in a full-time environment and play European football, so we are well aware of what’s in front of us.”

The match is being shown live of S4C with a 7:35pm kick off from Park Hall.
