Cardiff plays host to a double header of cup action on Sunday as the FAW Women’s Cup and Under 16 Girls Cup Finals take place.
In the Under 16 Girls Cup, Barry Town United and Villa Dino Christchurch meet at the Cardiff International Sports Stadium (KO 12:00) with both sides looking to win the competition for the first time.
The two sides currently sit second and first respectively in the South Wales Women and Girls League U16 table. Their previous meeting this season, a 3-3 draw, was one of the few occasions either has dropped points, so a tight clash is expected on Sunday.
Meanwhile over the road, the FAW Women’s Cup Final sees Cardiff City meet Swansea City in a repeat of the 2015 Final, which the Swans won 4-2.
That was the Swans second Women’s Cup win after their victory in the 2011 Final against Caernerfon. Cardiff will be looking to go level on two wins, having won their only Final back in 2016 against Llandudno.
Both sides overcame local rivals in the semi-finals, with Swansea beating Port Talbot Town 5-1 and Cardiff edging a close game against Cyncoed 1-0. Both are also in good form coming into the game, with Swans having won seven from their last eight, whilst Cardiff have five wins in six.
The sides have only met once so far in the league this season, with Swans coming out 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Jodie Passmore and Stacey John-Davies.
Fans are reminded that you can take advantage of a special offer on the day, which sees anyone attending the U16 Girls Cup Final given a ticket for free entry into the Women’s Cup Final later that afternoon.
