Bangor v Caernarfon to be shown live on S4C

The JD Welsh Cup Fourth Round tie between Bangor City and Caernarfon Town has been selected for live TV coverage by competition broadcast partners S4C.

The rivals will meet for the first time since 2015 on Saturday 26 January at the VSM Bangor City Stadium (kick-off 19:30).

The Cofis currently lie sixth in the JD Welsh Premier League, and have impressed in their first season back in the top flight under boss Sean Eardley, as they close in on a potential top six place come the split.

Bangor meanwhile welcomed back Gary Taylor-Fletcher to the club last month, the former player returning to the Citizens as manager as they look to break their way out of the Huws Gray Alliance.

The two sides last met in the JD Welsh Cup back in 1997/98, with City winning a home quarter-final 2-0 on their way to lifting the trophy.

Both clubs have reached the latter stages of the Cup in recent seasons, losing to the eventual winners. Bangor were semi-finalists last season, losing 6-1 to Connah’s Quay Nomads, while Town reached the same stage in 2016/17, losing 3-1 to Bala Town.

The tie will be played to a conclusion on the evening, with extra time and penalties used if required. Tickets will be available to purchase from both clubs before the game.
